SALTFORD DRIVING SCHOOL

FASTRACK AND INTENSIVE COURSES

An intensive course can be ideal for people with a limited time to devote to learning,if you have urgent deadlines or you are just the kind of person that learns better in a more intensive way. Having a concentration of lessons you don't "go rusty" in-between lessons and you should therefore need fewer lessons than if you had just one session per week. So you learn faster and for less lessons! It can be great if you're that type of person

WHAT'S AN INTENSIVE COURSE?

Typically someone on an INTENSIVE COURSE might have a lesson every other day. It's ideal for someone wanting to learn faster by doing more than one session per week and it can be a much quicker way to test. You'll need to put in the effort and get to some studying at home to keep up the speed of your learning as you wil be put in for your theory test and your practical test much earlier than if you were having just one session per week

WHATíS A FASTRACK COURSE?

A FASTRACK COURSE is typically a person having a session each day during the week. The sessions are either 90 minutes or 2 hours in length. We know from experience that two hours is more than long enough as you can't cram information into a tired mind. We would advise anyone against doing more than 2 hours at a time and we just don't do them for that reason. Again, you will need to put in the work study at home to keep you on track and you will be put in for your theory test and practical test much ealrier than usual. It's up to you to make sure you get up to scratch on time. Fastrack Courses are only carried out on weekdays 10am to 5pm

ALL INTENSIVE COURSES will take a firm commitment from you to put in the effort required to learn quickly. Ideally we want to help you put the knowledge that you have learned at home into practise. If we have to teach you the Highway Code whilst on your lessons then you will take much longer to learn. You will be given more work to do at home and you must learn the theory in your own time to achieve fast progress.

PAY BY CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD

You can pay by debit or credit card for your lessons and practical test fees

WHAT ABOUT BOOKING MY THEORY TEST?

You can take your Theory Test at any time you like The best time to TAKE your theory test is, of course, when you can pass it! We will help you with homework and questionnaires and  Mock Exams.

Test fees can be found at the  DVSA WEBSITE HERE

WHAT ABOUT BOOKING MY PRACTICAL TEST?

Your practical test will be normally arranged by us as you will need your instructor and school car on the day (unless you intend taking your test on your own in your own car). We will arrange an earlier than usual test for you as you should be making faster progress. We will arrange your test date for you. (NB Test fees are not included in your Intensive Course)

Test fees can be found at the  DVSA WEBSITE HERE

WHAT IF I'M NOT READY IN TIME?

you must aim to BE READY 2 weeks before your test. Your instructor will be marking your Progress Guide and keeping you up to date with where you are in your program. If you are NOT ready in time then it's not a problem as your test can be postponed to a later date provided it is done before the last cancellation date which is 3 days before the booked test

WHAT DOES ďBEING READYĒ MEAN?

Quite simply, you are ready when you can do everything in the syllabus without help from your instructor. NOTE We do not allow anyone to take their test if they have not completed the syllabus. Obviously if you are not driving independently then you're not safe to drive on your own

HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK SHOULD I DO?

Itís really up to you, the more you do the quicker you learn. Some have a 90 minute session every weekday, others do 2 or 3 90min sessions per week. It's up to you and how available you and your instructor are

CAN I HAVE TWO SESSIONS PER DAY?

You can have two 90 minute sessions per day if your instructor has the availability (but these are quite tiring for you) or do alternate days or whatever you desire

ASSESSMENT LESSON

Itís best to have an initial starter or assessment session before commencing your course so you can familiarise yourself with the car and your instructor. We can then see and advise you on the best course to suit your needs and availability.

HOW TO LEARN QUICKLY

It will take some honest hard work on your part for although we can show you HOW to pass your test only YOU can make yourself into a good driver.

NB Make sure you know your Highway Code thoroughly BEFORE WE SEE YOU

If we have to tell you everything in the Highway Code as well as teach you to drive then you will take much longer to learn. Remember your instructor is trying to help you put your knowledge of the Highway Code into practice so get to it!

Todayís driving test is a very thorough test of your ability to be totally safe in all driving conditions. There is no "just getting through these days" for you are either totally safe or you fail. Almost anyone who took their test more than 5 years ago will be unaware how stringent todayís test requirements are and rightly so for there is no room for major mistakes and the examiners will not let anything go that is remotely dangerous. On the good side, the accident rates for all new drivers to the roads have been falling noticeably over the past 5 years and we like to think itís through better education.

HOW MANY LESSONS WILL IT TAKE?

Itís impossible to say. Each person is different (thank heavens otherwise our job would be very boring!) We can always tell you what you CAN do right now, where your problems lie and what you will need to be able to do before you take your test but we're not fortune tellers

Just how quickly you learn depends entirely on YOU! All of our instructors are fully qualified experienced and professional instructors so how long you take to learn is up to YOU. We will be firing the information into you just as fast (and perhaps a little faster) than you can take it but how long you take to absorb that information and attain the skills required for safe driving rests with you.

FAQS

COULD I BE READY FOR TEST AFTER ONE WEEKS INTENSIVE COURSE?

No, not really for if you are starting absolutely from scratch then you would not have enough experience. But if you have experience already, passed your theory test, and have a car for practice then you might be capable of anything! It all depends on you!

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN IíM READY FOR TEST?

You're ready when you can do everything in the syllabus on your own without intervention or instruction from your instructor. If you canít do that then you are not ready and wonít be permitted to take a practical test.

HOW DO I BOOK MY LESSONS?

We will try to tailor your intensive course individually to suit you so we will discuss with you the plans for your course on your assessment session prior to commencing your course

WHAT IF I WANT MORE THAN ONE SESSION PER DAY?

If you require more then just discuss your availability and requirements with us prior to your course. If you wish to have a DOUBLE WEEKDAY INTENSIVE COURSE i.e. TWO x 90 MINUTES then beware, even the brightest and keenest clients have found that can become too tiring for their concentration to stand. We recommend have a trial assessment session before booking your intensive course

WHAT WILL BE MY CHANCES OF PASSING?

We really try to have everyone PASS FIRST TIME. Have a look at our HALL OF FAME and you see most people pass first time and that's what we do! Itís good for YOU and itís good for our business too. We donít let anyone take their test unless we are sure they are able to pass. The rest is in your hands!

WHAT ABOUT BOOKING MY TEST?

There are generally no delays to booking a test and it usually only takes a matter of minutes for us to arrange a practical test. We will make sure that you get a good test time. Waiting times for theory or are usually about a week or two and practical tests vary from week to week but are usually around 6-9 weeks in this area

You need to have passed your theory test (or have exemption) before you can apply for a practical test now. Donít worry though for we will be supplying you with all the necessary course work. Our realistic theory mock tests will help you to pass your test in the minimum amount of time

WHICH TEST CENTRES DO YOU USE?

You can use any test centre you like as it shouldn't make any difference where you take your test. However it's a bit pointless going further than you need. In this area the nearest test centres are Brislington and Kingswood in Bristol. Both have almost identical pass rates. There are no practical test centres in Bath as it's a nightmare to drive around
